History

The Department of Punjabi is an indispensable part of Guru Nanak College, Sri Muktsar Sahib. The well qualified and devoted faculty of the department has inculcated academic, creative and analytical awareness among the students. Under the skillful guidance of Mrs. Parkash Kaur and Mrs. Parmjit Kaur, the students have available new opportunities and achieved high designations. At Present, Dr. Rana Baljinder Kaur is heading the department. The department comprises 7 members who are highly qualified and hardworking. From 2009 onwards PG Classes have been introduced with 30 seats. Now, with the approval of Panjab University, the number of seats has raised to 60.

On 14-2- 2008, seminar organized is Shiv kavi Bhupakhi arvakhan, Visitors S. Jagjeet Singh Sidhu, Dr. Sukhdev Singh, Dr. Joginder Singh Nehru, Mohan bhnadari, Dr. Devender Singh.
On 10-2- 2012 and on 13-2- 112, Ru-B- ru function was organized, the guest were Gurmeet Kadialoi and S. Atarjeet.
On 2-3- 2012, National Punjabi conference was organized, the title was , “Punjabi Sahit, Sabhyachar and media: Aurat Ate Aks”, the gueast were Dr. Gurmohan Singh Walia, Prof Waryan Singh sidhu, DrJaswinder Sinhg, Surjeet Patar, Dr. Dhanwant Kaur, Dr. Kulwant singh Sandhu, Dr. Surjeet Sandhu, Dr. Gurmeet Singh, Dr. Navjeet Johal, Dr. Sukhdev Singh, Dr. Karamjeet Singh, Dr. Daria, Dr. Paramjeet Singh Dhingra
On 31-8- 12 , 09-11- 12, 30-1- 13, 05-2- 13, Ru-b- ru was organized the guest were Prof. Gurdial Singh, Baljinder Nasrali, Dr. Harjinder Surrewalia, Dr. DEvender Singh.
On 08-08- 14, Ru-b- ru was organized in which the guest was Sarabjeet Mangat.
On 22-10- 14, extension lecture was conducted, in which the guest was Baldev Singh Azad.
On 10-3- 15, A seminar “Ajoki Naari: Dasha ate Disha”, was organized in which the guest were “Dr. Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal, Dr. Harshinder Kaur, Dr. Madanjeet Kaur Sahota, Dr. Ravinder kaur, Sarabjeet Mangat.
On 23-11- 15, a national seminar was organized, “Sabhyacharikaran di Parikriya ate Punjabi Sahit”, the guest were Dr. Paramjeet Singh Dhingra, Dr. Rajneesh Bhadur, Dr. Kamalpreet Kaur, Balveer Parvana.
